The Aleister Crowley Foundation was originally started in Brazil by two members of the Thelemic Order of the Golden Dawn (Order of the T.·.G.·.D.·.) in 1997 e.v. In 1998 e.v., in affiliation with these two Fraters, David Cherubim of the T.·.G.·.D.·. founded the Aleister Crowley Foundation in the United States. Then the Aleister Crowley Foundation in Brazil was obligated by law to change their name and they became the Aleister Crowley Institute. Shortly after this, the Aleister Crowley Foundation in the US severed its relation to this institute in Brazil and it became an independent organization.

On the Winter Solstice of 2003 e.v., after more than five years of service to the Aleister Crowley Foundation, David Cherubim of the T.·.G.·.D.·. transferred the Aleister Crowley Foundation to Gerald del Campo of the Order of Thelemic Knights (O.T.K.), a friend for over seventeen years, to maintain the foundation in association with the O.T.K. in service to Thelema and the works of Aleister Crowley. Gerald del Campo previously served the foundation by setting up its Supporting Membership program. With Gerald's support, the membership of the foundation continues to exist, and it continues to freely promote Unity in the Thelemic Community for the accomplishment of the Great Work of Thelema!
